FSSAI Basic License

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issues different types of licenses to food businesses in India, depending on their size and scale of operations.The FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) Basic License is the simplest type of food license issued by the FSSAI for small-scale food businesses in India. It is designed for businesses with limited operations and is meant to ensure basic compliance with food safety regulations.
The FSSAI Regulations requires Food Business Operators (FBO) with an Annual Turnover not Exceeding Rs. 12 Lacs Per Annum to take Basic Registration / Licence.

FSSAI State License

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issues State Licenses to food businesses in India that operate at a medium scale.The FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) State License is a type of license required for medium-sized food businesses in India. It is issued by the state government and is mandatory for businesses that do not fall under the category of small-scale food operations but also do not meet the turnover criteria for a Central FSSAI License.
The FSSAI Regulations requires Food Business Operators (FBO) with an Annual Turnover exceeding Rs. 12 Lacs Per Annum but not exceeding Rs. 20 Crores Per Annuam to take State Licence.

Central FSSAI License

Central FSSAI License is a mandatory license required for large-scale food businesses and importers operating in India. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) issues this license to ensure that businesses engaged in food manufacturing, processing, distribution, and importation comply with the national food safety and quality standards.

FSSAI Central Licence is required by those businesses who are either :

  1. Having Turnover exceeding Rs 20 Crores Per Annum,
  2. Head Office of any company having business in more than 1 state.
  3. Export Business of Food Items.
  4. E-Commerce Business Operator.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR FSSAI BASIC REGISTRATION

Form A

To apply for FSSAI registration, applicant is required fill out FORM A, an application form with specific details about your food business. Amongst other details, Form A needs general information like :
>  Name of Business,
>  Name of Applicant,
>  Person Authorised for Carrying of Production,
>  Address of his Shop / Company where food manufacturing is done,
>  Email Address,
>  Mobile Number,
>  Type of Water Connection,
>  Approval from Local Bodies etc

Documents Required :
  1. Identity proof of the Applicant I
  2. When applying for FSSAI registration / Licence in India, you will be required to provide identity proof to verify the identity of the person or entity associated with the food business. The specific identity proof requirements varies based on the type of registration (Basic, State, or Central) and the legal structure of your business (proprietorship, partnership, company, etc.).

    Identity Proof Document Required for FSSAI Basic Registration :
    For Proprietorship Firm : Aadhaar Card of The Proprietor
    For Partnership Firm : PAN Card of Partnership Firm, and Aadhaar Card of any Partner
    For Company : PAN Card of the Company, and Aadhaar Card of any Director
  3. Proof of Premises / Address Proof of the Business
  4. When applying for FSSAI registration for your food business in India, Applicant needs to provide the proof of Premises. Documents which can be submitted are : If Documents are in the Name of the Applicant
    >  Electricity Bill,
    >  Holding Tax Receipt,
    >  Property Papers of the Premise where shop is located
    If Documents are NOT in the Name of the Applicant
    >  Rent Agreement along with any one (Electricity Bill / Holding Tax Receipt, / Property Papers of the Premise where shop is located), and
    >  NOC from Owner, in the prescribed format.

  5. PHOTO OF THE APPLICANT
  6. A recent Paspport Size Photo of the applicant is required.

    Please note that these are the general documents required to apply for Basic Registration. However, while evaluating the application, FSSAI Officer may require additional documents.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR STATE / CENTRAL LICENCE

Form B

To apply for FSSAI State and / or Central Licence, applicant is required fill out FORM B. Form B is the application form with that required applicant to fill out specific details about your food business. Form B is governed by Regulation 2.1.2, Regulation 2.1.3 and Regulation2.1.7 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Following are the General Business details required in Form B :
>  Name of Applicant,
>  Name of Business,
>  Registered office Address
>  Address of the Premise for which Licence is being applied,
>  Email Address,
>  Mobile Number,
>  Source of Water,
>  Approval from Local Bodies etc

Apart from above mentioned general business details, following additional specific details are required in FORM B :

>  Name and/or designation, qualification and address of technically qualified person in charge of operations.
>  Name and/or designation, address and contact details of person responsible for complying with conditions of license.
>  List of Food Items to be manufactured.
>  Installed Capacity, Food Item wise.
>  Sanctioned electricity load or HP to be used.
>  If unit is equipped with an analytical laboratory, details thereof,
>  Water Testing report from an NABL Accredited Lab
>  Other Documents
